Notes about tours and workshops

During a photo tour I typically will shoot, but put priority on your needs. If I’m shooting and you have a question, please let me know and I’ll spend what ever time you need, this always takes priority over my shooting. That said, a tour is a very difficult place to learn your equipment as the focus is getting on the shot and learning is primarily aimed at optimizing the shooting opportunities at what ever location we’re at. Workshops on the other hand focus completely on teaching you how to make the most of the equipment you have. The only shooting I do is to demonstrate how to use the equipment and most of the time is spent with you actually doing rather then passively watching. The size of my workshops are intentionally very small so I can customize each one to the needs of each of the participants. The more you can let me know about what you want prior to the workshop the better so I can make sure I have it covered when you arrive. I would recommend taking either my workshop or a similar one with another instructor prior to attending a tour if you are uncomfortable with your equipment rather than trying to learn as you go on a tour, as with the fast pace of the tours it will be difficult to learn and get the shots as well.
